Palavino Interviews Sonoma Wine Blogger @ollyverthewino

Q. Hello Olivia! Tell us a little bit about how you got into the wine industry, and what made you start your blog? As avid followers, we love how relatable and accessible you make your content.

Hi there Palavino! I got into the wine industry in 2015 when I got a job at a tasting room in Healdsburg. Fell in love with it the first day and tried to learn as much as I could as fast as I could. I started my instagram in 2018 to have some sort of creative outlet and I have loved getting to know other people who were also just as into wine as me! I try my hardest to make my posts as relatable as possible as sometimes people think wine as scary and intimidating when it's not! Anyone can fall in love with wine at any price point.

Q. What is it like to live in Santa Rosa, as you say, right in the middle of Sonoma wine country? And how has it changed in the last year because of the pandemic?

I’ve been living in Santa Rosa for about 6 years now and love it. It's almost too nice to have wineries within a 10 minute drive from my house so it's easy to make a day of wine tasting. Santa Rosa has changed a lot during the pandemic. Some of my favorite restaurants have gone out of business as a lot of people are not going out right now.  I certainly miss just running around Santa Rosa all the time and I hope things get better soon!

Q. Tell us a little bit about your favorite wines and wineries and what makes them your favorites?

Oh man, that's a very hard question. My go to is any Napa Cab, just because they feel like a warm hug when you drink them. I love a good Cabernet Franc, some of my favorite Sonoma producers are Thumbprint Cellars and Delve Wine Co. I love Raft Wines Syrah and Foppianos Petite Sirah. I’ve been grabbing a lot more rosés, some of my favorites are from Cox Family Vineyardsand Ernest Vineyards just because they are so light and crisp and pair well with a warm summer day.

Q. As you know, we are wine lovers obsessed with glassware and exciting new designs, what do you think about our Aerating Wine Glass?

Loving the glasses! Love that they are a bit weightier so I don't feel like I am going to break them by swirling. I can tell the difference between drinking from the aerating glass and drinking from a normal glass, I think they are a really cool product and I use them a lot!
